Our Digital Media team are recruiting for a Paid Media Executive to join them on a permanent basis. You’ll be part of an entrepreneurial team of 4 and will be responsible for defining best practices in how we approach performance marketing; identifying key optimisation opportunities that ensure our authors and their books are widely and effectively marketed.
In this role, you’ll work collaboratively with our marketing colleagues situated within our 9 publishing houses, identifying new media partnerships for our established and debut authors. This newly created role will suit someone who is curious, creative and determined to be a key part of our specialist digital media team, that forms part of our wider Penguin Brand division.

The iconic Penguin brand – the only consumer-facing brand in publishing – sits at the heart of what we do. With the recent rapid growth in online sales, we have an exciting opportunity to leverage the power of our brand to help new and different readers discover our books and to champion the causes we care about. We’ve recently undergone an internal reorganisation in our department to help us take advantage of this unique opportunity, which includes building a leading digital marketing team and platform.
Some of your responsibilities include:
Supporting our Head of Digital Media with the development of strategic media execution and measurement plans across our paid media platforms, based on brand and commercial objectives.
Actively ensuring that media buyers and team members are knowledgeable and comfortable utilising our central media platforms.
Performing quality assurance checks with campaigns, ensuring that line items and creative have been set up correctly and are delivering across all platforms and devices.
Effectively communicating status of campaigns, technical issues, launch delays, and delivery issues to internal stakeholders.
Supporting divisional marketing with mature media strategies that support key commercial and brand objectives.
Identifying media optimisation opportunities utilising the Penguin Smart Spend platform aimed at improving campaign performance.
Assisting with documenting, updating and maintaining trafficking and work-flow procedures for client accounts.
Identifying new media partnerships or new media products to trial across all media teams.
Supporting agency teams with campaign implementation across Penguin media platforms.
To succeed in this role, you will:
Already have significant experience managing performance marketing campaigns in programmatic DSP platforms including such as Amazon DSP, DV360, Trade Desk, Verizon or similar.
Have some experience of running medium to large, multi-channel campaigns.
Have proven experience successfully optimising media campaigns.
Be experienced implementing A/B and MVT for media campaigns, with the ability to speak to specific examples and use-cases.
Be experienced using 3rd party AdTech and digital media analytics tools.
Be a great communicator who can speak fluently about campaign performance and complex marketing problems.
Our approach to hybrid working:
While our offices are places for you to connect, collaborate and celebrate with colleagues, having flexibility about where you work is just as important for doing your best work and for your wellbeing. So, we don’t have a one-size-fits-all approach when it comes to how we work across Penguin Random House UK.
For this role, there are regular meetings and activities that you will need to attend in person mainly at our offices in Nine Elms. Outside of these moments, you can choose to work remotely.
The exact balance of office to remote working can be discussed with your future manager during the recruitment process. What we can say now is that you won’t need to go into the office five days a week (unless of course you want to!)
Please apply with your CV and cover letter by Tuesday 27th September.
