Netflix‘s Harry and Meghan documentary series has beaten The Crown in ratings.
According to viewing figures, 2.4million people tuned in to Netflix to watch the documentary Harry & Meghan on the day of its release (December 8).
This means that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s documentary more than doubled the amount of viewers who tuned in to watch fellow Netflix series The Crown, which received 1.1 million viewers when it premiered on November 9 (via Metro).

Viewing figures released by independent ratings body Barb show that the documentary has the highest first day audience since Barb began monitoring Netflix in October.
Though it must be noted that Barb only accounts for the number of audience members who tune in on a television so the number is actually likely to be much higher if smartphone, laptop and tablet viewers are considered.
On the day of its release, Barb confirmed that the second episode in the documentary series was watched by 1.5 million people, while episode three was watched by 800,000 viewers – all on the first day.

The documentary was marred with negativity before it was even released, but if viewing figures are anything to go by, the first three episodes have certainly drawn people in.
Meanwhile, Netflix has announced the release date for the next instalment of episodes along with a teaser trailer.
“Harry and Meghan reminisce about their whirlwind first dance as husband and wife. Volume I: Now Streaming. Volume II: December 15,” they shared via Twitter.
