FIFA WC GHANA TEAM: After their exploits at the 2010 World Cup, wherein their clash with Uruguay in the Quarterfinals made all the headlines and also knocked them out of the World Cup, Ghana has not had quite the same impact at these mega events since then.
In Brazil back in 2014, they only managed to make it to the group stages but could not make it out of the group. Russia 2018 did not see their participation as they failed to qualify. Now, they are part of Qatar 2022 and will be hoping to replicate their 2010 form and go deep in the tournament.
FIFA WC GHANA SQUAD: Ghana, or the Black Stars, as they are known, have a good roster of players to help them elevate their game to the next level. During the World Cup Qualifiers, they topped their group and were in fine touch throughout their 6 games.
Out of all their games, they only lost a single game but were not at their best in terms of goalscoring as they only managed to find the back of the net 7 times. Comparatively, their defence was quite decent, conceding just 3 times. Heading to Qatar, they need to ensure that they snatch all the goal-scoring chances they get.
GHANA TEAM NEWS: Ghana prefers to play in a 4-2-3-1 formation and even though they like to tinker with their formation at times, this formation is the template for them.
The Black Stars are another team that does not have a fixed identity of play, as they are someone who dominates possession against weaker teams, but looking at the teams at this year’s World Cup, it doesn’t look like they will be with the ball a lot.
They like to play out from the back and a lot of the onus of the same will lie on Thomas Partey, the Arsenal midfielder has been on fire in England this season and his ball-progressing abilities will be key.
Iñaki Williams’ burst of pace and his movement off the ball will also be a worry for opposition defenders as he likes to play off the shoulder of the last defender and make runs through the wide channels.
GHANA Team INJURY LIST: Ghana does not have any injury issues to deal with right now.
FIFA WC GHANA GROUP NEWS: Ghana will be part of Group H with Uruguay, South Korea, and Portugal in the 2022 WC in Qatar this time. This is not the easiest group to make it to the Round of 16 but they do have a shot at causing an upset.
FIFA WC GHANA Matches & Schedule: Ghana will play their first game of the World Cup against Portugal on the 24th of November, followed by the game against South Korea on the 28th and their final game of the group stage will be versus Uruguay on the 2nd of December.
