E4 revamps 4Music and launches comedy and entertainment channel E4 Extra – Yahoo Entertainment

E4 is extending into a brand new comedy and entertainment channel E4 Extra that will also see 4Music revamped to focus on just music.
New channel E4 Extra is set to occupy the Electronic Programme Guide (EPG) slot currently held by 4Music, but will be a youth-facing sibling channel to E4.

It will concentrate on comedy and entertainment, airing shows that had ended up on 4Music which will go back to being the purely music channel it was launched as but in a new EPG slot.
E4 Extra will feature shows from across Channel 4’s brands, including Batwoman, Ramsay’s Kitchen Nightmares, Ninja Warrior Japan and Undercover Boss USA, as well as audience favourites like Big Bang Theory, The Inbetweeners and Derry Girls.
It will also air the UK exclusive of season two of Legendary, a reality vogueing competition that explores the world of ball culture with celebrity judges including Jameela Jamil and Megan Thee Stallion.
Meanwhile, 4Music will get back to focussing on music, the biggest stars of pop, and the latest chart hits, having taken on more entertainment content in recent years.
4Music will move to the EPG slot currently held by music channel Box Hits and E4 Extra is set to launch on Wednesday, 29 June.

Head of youth and digital at Channel 4 Karl Warner said: “4Music started life as a music channel, but it has changed over time in line with audience demands offering a blend of E4 flavoured comedy and entertainment.
“So E4 Extra feels like a natural evolution, strengthening the E4 brand and optimising the content mix between the channels. Going forward, E4 will hero large-scale reality and popular factual, whilst seamlessly partnering with E4 Extra where viewers can find scripted US favourites, comedy and entertainment.
“With E4 branded shows already driving a significant proportion of viewers to All 4, streaming fans will now have an even broader offer from the E4 family.”
E4 Extra launches on 29 June at 7am and can be found at Freeview 31, Virgin 337, Sky 139, Freesat 181 and YouView 31.
4Music’s new home will be at Virgin 336, Sky 354 and Freesat 501.
