With only a few months remaining in 2022, most people are already thinking about 2023. Gamers are looking forward to new game releases and other gaming developments coming next year.
Platforms like Everygame Poker and video game platforms are looking for new games to add to their portfolio.
While many fantastic video games are yet to be exhausted this year, it wouldn’t hurt to anticipate what will come. There are several gaming trends to look forward to that will change video gaming.
Here is what 2023 has in store for you.
Do you recall when you had to purchase a game from a retailer physically? Or download it from an infamously slow server? Or spend thousands of dollars on upgrading your PC console? With thousands of games now available for real-time streaming, those days will be a thing of the past.
Although cloud gaming isn’t novel, it improves annually and enables end users to play without being hampered by their devices.
In 2023, you will undoubtedly hear of Xbox Cloud Gaming, PlayStation Now, Amazon Luna, and Google Stadia if you haven’t already. Although cloud gaming may spare you the trouble of shelling out a lot of cash on gaming hardware, it still requires fast internet.
Studies have shown that fitness gaming is a healthy alternative to gym workouts, and people who prefer not to go to the gym are going for it.
Say goodbye to the notion that gaming is only for sedentary people. Now, games make you sweat, and everyone appears to be quite eager to get into fitness gaming. Not only could eSports become an Olympic sport (more on that later), but there are even games that make you work up a sweat.
Fitness gaming, also referred to as Active Video Games (AVG), has been around for a while (remember the Wii, anyone? Or perhaps it’s how Pokémon Go has us all pacing the streets?).
Since then, several less well-known but no less sweating fitness games, including the Peloton bike with built-in gaming. Zombies and Run are a couple to keep an eye on because they’ll inspire even non-runners to start.
The idea that gamers would earn millions of dollars from playing video games in the 1990s would have been laughed to scorn.
Today, with eSports as one of the fastest-growing industries in the world, major international corporations are scrambling to become involved.
At the 2022 Asian Games, eSports will make its official debut, possibly laying the groundwork for eventual inclusion in the Olympic Games.
Its popularity will soar over the next few years as more traditional sports push to establish connections with the eSports sector.
Since their introduction at the tail end of 2020, the Xbox Series and PlayStation 5 have experienced severe supply constraints. This is standard for the first few months after a platform’s debut.
Still, the dry spell has lasted considerably longer than usual for Sony and Microsoft’s most recent consoles due to high demand, supply chain concerns, and a persistent chip shortage. These issues have also affected Nintendo’s Switch, and the company has predicted a 10% decline in sales.
There are reasonable grounds to believe that the shortfall of new consoles will lessen by the end of the year and during 2023, even though Intel predicts that it will continue through 2024.
Even though AMD had anticipated that the chip scarcity problem would become less acute by the end of 2022, Sony looks confident that it can increase production. While this may not be the case, the manufacturer aims to achieve this goal despite the ongoing supply chain and chip shortage problems by projecting PS5 shipments to hit over 18 million throughout the upcoming fiscal financial year, an enormous increase of 11.5 million from last year.
It’s logical to assume that Microsoft anticipates the Xbox Series X will become considerably more accessible next year.
Nintendo also anticipates shipping 21 million Switch consoles in its fiscal year ending March 2023, a slight decrease from last year. So, during the coming year, we can expect the PS5 and Xbox Series to become much more widely available as regular shortages for them, ideally, become a thing of the past.
PC gaming cannot miss in the list of gaming industry trends for 2023. Even though Steam has long been the preferred PC gaming platform, several newcomers to the scene have the potential to unseat Steam.
Due to its enormous collection of recent releases and classic titles, the digital distribution network GOG is becoming increasingly well-liked. Along with Origin, UPlay, and other platforms, Epic Games Store, the people behind Fortnite, is another to keep an eye on.

Another development to watch out for is the online gaming hub Roblox, which has dramatically increased the number of independent games. Roblox was initially created as a platform for children to develop their online games. But because of how simple and entertaining it was, it quickly gained popularity among adults.
There is a lot in store for the gaming industry in 2023. There are new opportunities for gaming developers, gamers, and other players in the industry.
Cloud gaming will increase, and more adoption of fitness gaming will be witnessed. Unlike this year, gaming console distribution and accessibility will improve. There will also be new PC platforms and more game releases, some of which have already been announced.
